Spain

Yay! I'm in Spain for two weeks! Yesterday I flew in, and today we (my sister and I) went to lunch with my grandparents and ate albandegas, chorizo, and dulce de lece. Yum! This evening we're gonna go see a musical. :D

One of Those Days...

WHERE EVERYBODY SUCKS AND YOU HATE THE WORLD! YAH! So. I, uh, just needed to get that out there. Sorry for making you read that, if you're paying attention to my blog. But I did get a Jamba Juice! AND IT SUCKED! No, jk, it was pretty good. BUT I STILL HATE THE WORLD! SO THERE, POOPERS!

Small Childrens, How You Be Doin' That?!

HOW? Just the other day I saw a small group of childrens and they were like, running and screaming and throwing things and jumping and laughing and HOW? While they did this I sat on a chair dead tired because I'd been outside in the heat for like 20 minutes (if even, probably less) holding a camera in my hand. ENERGY-LESS. While these small children bounced off the walls ceaselessly. HOW DO YOU ACHIEVE THIS HIGH STATE OF ENERGY-NESS? HOOOOW? TELL ME. It's not that I dislike the way modern pre-teens and teens are - we can shop for hours while laden with 20 pounds of shopping bags while no 2 year-old could achieve such a feat - but I just wish I had as much energy as those little tikes. Well, maybe it's the naps. I suppose I'll have to try it sometime, but for now, this has been your average tired teenage Jelly, reporting for duty!

Happy 4th!

4th of July. The day on which millions of Americans spend much money on food and decorations and snacks, and proceed to indulge in multiple kinds of classic American foods. Yet how many times throughout the hot summer day the we call the 4th of July does anyone think, wow, what rich history our country has; wars, hardships and freedom. I'm so blesses to live here! Not once, I'd be willing to bet. I just think that maybe we should have a few less pool parties and fun, and a few more odes to America and passing on of tales from America's old days. Next 4th of July, try to think about why we really made it a national holiday, and not just the fact that fo ryour fourth of July outfit this year, you don't like your red shirt and blue pants together. -Truly and Sincerely, Jelly

Veer-Zaara

Do you watch bollywoods movies? And no, 'Slumdog Millionaire' does not count. If so, have you seen Veer-Zaara? And if not, this is the one to start with. It's stunning, filled with snowy mountains and rolling green hills. The tale of love weaves a plot so in depth that by the end of the movie you will be in tears. The scandal and action give the movie an exciting edge. It's the most beautiful film I've ever seen. I love it. WATCH IT.

Texas Is Ceeewl

So ya. Title pretty much says it all. The beach is gorgeous and fantastic and beautiful. We have N.A.S.A, historic Galveston Island, beaches, big cities and flourishing arts centers. I love the place I live in, and to you haters: WE CAN SUCCEED ANY TIME WE WANT, AND YOU'D HAVE NO OIL SOURCES! YOU BE JEALOUS!

Phases

It's so weird how people go through phases before they can settle on one definite schedule/idea/etc... Like me. I'll start a blog, blog a ton for a week and then forget it for 3 months. Then I remember, blog at a steady pace for a month and then forget again. Same thing with foods and facebook and other stuff. And everyone does it, too. Not just me. Hm. Weird.

Well... That was... Um. Eventful?

So I hadn't been feeling well for a while, like a really bad sore throat, and I was tired all the time and I had been getting a lot of headaches. So then, late March (I think? It went on for so long I can't really keep much of that time period straight.) I just threw up. Really hard, about every 20-30-40 minutes. Then after about four days of that, I had horrible, terrible congestion. Runny/plugged up nose for about a week and a half and I couldn't breathe up till the last few days of it. So, blegh. So that's around two and a half weeks. Then, after that: A week of dry, painful, sharp sore throat-ey-ness and incapacitating headaches. So, that's what I've been doing for the past three and a half weeks.. Sitting at home in bed in various levels and stages of pain. Thnx 4 reading, ttyl! -J

Adding to a Prior Post:

So a few posts ago I did a Ginny Weasley costume walk-through, but even though I knew everything I needed and where to get it, I didn't actually have it in my closet; it was still slowly coming together. So for the white button down shirt, which I recently found was not currently available at this time in the year, you can also try http://www.cookieskids.com/ in their uniform section. You can find a gray skirt there as well. So ya, just thought I'd add that. I'll post pictures soon!

REALLY? If I don't exist then WHO IS WRITING THIS?!?! HUH?

Ok, so my sister lives in Oregon. And she goes to this all-girls school there. So she tells her friends there about Jelly (me, for those of you who can't relate the blog title to the person and are sorta like... Brain dead.) and they don't believe her. They seriously think she is lying about having a Geeky (capitalized due to the fact that Geeks are a separate race from humans and should be well distinguished from human beings), goofy, 12 year old piece of awesome for a sister. WHAT? If you are reading this, girls of SMA, I EXIST. Like, right now. Just - in Texas. Not Portlandia - I mean Portland. COUGH, COUGH - *put a bird on it* - COUGH, COUGH. Sorry, catch in my throat. A GAZILLION BROWNIE POINTS FOR THOSE WHO GOT THAT. Jesus loves ya, even if you don''t see it - over and out - JELLY WHO EXISTS.

Maybe It's Not The First Time Though 'Cause This Feels Sorta Familiar...

For the first time since... Well, I believe it's the first time since I started this blog... I don't have any words. No ranting paragraphs on the goodness of Zutara, no Barbie dreams, no funny comments or inside jokes to share. I'm just... Really tired and... I dunno. Pleghb im going to bed now.

BOWIE

You remind me of The Babe!
What babe?
The Babe with the power!
What power?
The power of the vudu!
Who do?
You do!
Do what?
Remind me of The Babe!

P.S: I looked again tonight and the vampire/nurse/stalker Barbie was not there... I must have been really tired that night...

P.P.S: I saw this Lucie Barbie at Tuesday Morning (the store, not the day of the week) who was getting knives thrown at her and they were like "stuck" in the cardboard all around her. They were like a centimeter long... And she had this like bizarre Barbie grimace on...

P.P.P.S: Did you know it tells me I'm wrong if I just type 'barbie' so unless I capitalize Barbie it's like incorrect?

Panic

Panic. It rises up, making your tummy squirm and twist. Your heart pumps and your eyes stretch wide. Every noise, every twitch that you think you see is the most immense, creepy thing in the world. Why is is this feeling so fresh in my memory? What makes me feel this way? Last night I looked at my window (1:00 A.M-ish) and my blackout shades had been pulled open a little. Outside my window there's a bush. The way this bush was shaped it made me see a Barbie with a nurse cap on and super moonlight pale skin and a white, knee length dress. She had long, voluminous white-blond curls that reached just past her hips. Okay. Maybe my imagination made some of that up last night. But it was still creepy!!!!

Ninja Assassin

I am a ninja super-sneaky assassin. I know where you live. Well... Not right this moment, but if I wanted to know then I could. I will find you. I am a shadow, a whisper. The thing that you thought you saw out of the corner of your eye today that you dismissed as a trick of the light? That was me hunting you. I am deadly and I- OOOW THAT WAS MY TOE ON THE DOOOOOOR!!!!!! Ok you got me I'm just really awesome. Awesome people stub their toes too, okay!?!?!? We do it subconsciously in order to remember what it feels like to be a normal person. OKAY?

Ginny Weasley Walkthrough

So as you may know by now, I am going to the Harry Potter 7 Part 2 premiere at midnight in costume as: Ginny Weasley!!! Fun, hun?

So anyhow, as it took me forever to find everything I needed at a good price, I thought I could help others out by putting down what I did! So without further ado, I give you my Ginny Weasley complete costume walkthrough!!!

Ginny is modest, shy and not too flashy. She doesn't really know how pretty she is. For that reason, she sticks a little more to herself than, say, Cho Chang. She doesn't wear jewelry much, she wears simple, comfortable clothes and she is a proud Gryffindor.

The first thing you'll need is her uniform. You'll need a white, long sleeved button down shirt, a gray pullover or button down sweater in Gryffindor house colors, a gray, pleated knee length skirt, black tights, black shoes, a hair accessory and a Gryffindor uniform tie.

MAIN OUTFIT

Under Shirt: For her white button down long sleeved shirt, try this not-too-pricey J.C Penney's Arizona button down shirt from their website, jcpenneys.com.

Gryffindor House Sweater: Next is the Gryffindor house sweater. The one I chose may seem a little too much on the pricey side; honestly, though, you pay more than this in some places just for the fact that it's real lambswool. Lochaven of Scotland makes quality lambswool sweaters, and they happen to be the people who provided sweaters for the movies! If this is too expensive, try polyvore.com or just browse online or in-store.

Gray Skirt: For the gray skirt, we turn once more to Boutiques.com or polyvore.com. You should be able to find something that works here. If not, just google pleated midlength gray skirts.

Black Tights: For black tights, go to any Target, J.C Penney's, Dillard's ect... You can use their store or website. You can find cheep footed or footless tights that will work at any of those stores.

Black Shoes: Ginny wears a comfortable, worn looking black tennis shoe. What I chose was a black Doc Marten (but that was because I needed sneakers to put my orthodics in anyway and my mother was buying them). That's what it looks like she wears. Try docmartens.com. If this is too expensive, then any black flat from a department or shoe store will work.

Note: Since making this original post, I have found this website: http://www.cookieskids.com/. Here, you can find white button down shirts, gray skirts and other things in their uniform section. Hope this helps!

ACCESSORIES

As said before, Ginny does not like to bling up. But there are some things that are a necessity...

Gryffindor Tie: All Hogwarts school students must have their house tie. Ginny, as a Gryffindor, wears a maroon and gold one. A very cheep option for this is Amazon.com. The Rubies Costume
Co. Gryffindor tie is the cheapest option. Although I know from experience (since this is the tie I chose to purchase) that you may have to sew a few thing up here and there, it's ok quality for the price. If you want something more expensive or better quality (or that comes in a brown paper package tied up with string!) then check out www.WizardTies.com.

Hair Clip/Headband: Ginny wears either a very simple headband or hair clip with a tortoise-shell print to pull back her bangs. You can find either of these at a Target, J.C Penney's, Sally Beauty etc...

Wand: Because what is a witch without a wand? Really, there's no cheep alternative to Ginny's wand. I still haven't found one under $30... In the end, I think it'll end up that I'll take a stick and carve it to look like her wand.

So, enjoy this and have fun making costume! I hope that you enjoy being a geek about the Harry Potter series as much as I do! Tata for now...

Hope this helps anybody who needs it! -J

Rhym-ey Song

I'm great with lyrics in the way that they come easily; I have just one problem. I cannot rhyme. Does anybody know how I can make rhymes? I mean, I can, but it just takes me awhile to think of things and by the time I've thought of things I've forgotten the tune and general idea of the song I was going for... Help me!!

The Mucho Mucho Bueno

Taco.
Bell.
Nothing but God and Jesus is better than The Bell of Taco. Every meal I have I think how much better it would have been if it had been Taco Bell. The Taco Bell by my house knows my order. Two bean and cheese burritos no sauce no onions and a medium baja blast no ice to drink. The beans warm my mouth and bring an oatmeal-like feel to my mouth. The stringy cheese melts away and wraps itself in with the beans. The evenly folded, soft tortilla crumbles in my mouth with the rest of the food. The baja blast no ice means that I get more drink for my money and I can drink more slowly and it won't be watered down. Oh, Taco Bell.

ATF

Have you ever felt like everything you've ever known has been wiped away and all the things you thought you knew because of science or facts has been ripped from your grasp? Maybe not. But that's what God did to me. I thought being a Christian meant avoiding cursing, and bad things, and going to church. But then I was changed.
I acquired the fire. When I went to Acquire The Fire, I met God. I met Him as much as anyone on earth can. I stood in His presence and felt him wipe away my fears, my worries. He is so powerful, so great, that I could not stand on my feet. He is so incredible.
When you stand in the presence of Him with hundreds others and weep for Him, that's when you truly know God.

God

Sometimes I just feel so overwhelmed, you know? I feel lonely. I feel busy. I feel ugly, or fat, or stupid. "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." says Philipians 4:13. Basically, God is so great that I could jump off a cliff and soar through the air. I could teleport to Japan right now. I could start writing this blog post with nothing but my mind. That's a nearly unfathomable to me. Anything. ANYTHING. He is so powerful that I could do anything he chose to let me. So why should I have any worries? Think this through, and every problem that ever came across your path seems pitiful and like nothing. God is so awesome.

HSPVA

So my sis tried out for HSPVA's visual arts and then creative writing departments today... This was her second time, like her callbacks. She thinks they went really well, and she seemed really comfortable and good and stuff; hope it went well. They asked some questions, she filled out some stuff (I think?) and gave the papers they assigned to students with callbacks. I really hope it went well, so she can move back down to Texas... Wish her luck!

SISTER!

Hello, Sera, hello!
Hello, Serastoff, hello!!
My sister (who's name is not actually Serastoff, it's just a pen name) is coming down from Portland to visit for a few days and go to stage two of creative writing and visual arts at HSPVA. Sooooo gonna be cool. We're going to go pick her up at the airport pretty soon. So anyways, she'll be down here through Sunday; I'm super happy because we got the anti-weed ground-cloth down and have filled in with stones over most of it in the dessert plant bed and the herb plant bed. We've also planted the Japanese Honeysuckle out of it's pot and into the ground and we've also put the stone slabs around it in a sort of half moon walkway dudad. See ya soon, Palo!!

Hungry

My stomach calls. It feels as though a hundred knives are digging out inside. My stomach shouts it's protests: "FOOD!!! Put me out of my misery!" I am so hungry. I need to find food... But I am writing a blog post. The thought of a pie or a hot dog or my favorite bean-cheese burrito is sickeningly good. I'm gonna go find some food now...

Games

So I've been doing Poptropica for a while now, and it's pretty fun and entertaining. They come up with cute new ideas about once every month or month and a half. The latest one that is open to non-members is 'Cryptids'. Just finished that one. The only islands that are open that I haven't finished are 'Astro Knights' and 'Skullduggery'. I would have finished 'Astro Knights' but the computer I was playing on glitched out and hid a piece of the screen so I couldn't hit save... :( And that's a hard island. Miniclip is cool for like, quick games to do while watching T.V or just cause your bored. I tried to do Minecraft, but I think it was saying you have to pay money for it, so... I mean I could, but I don't really want to, you know? So, if somebody has a recommendation for a good gaming site, please share!

Human/Catnip Hybrid

I sometimes wonder if perhaps there is catnip in my blood... Wherever I go, cats sit on my lap, rub against me, vocalize a bunch and purr so loudly I wonder if the catnip in my blood makes me hear them louder. But maybe I just speak animal, because it is the same with dogs and birds and things of the sort. I'm not complaining, but it's just really odd. Maybe I should try it out on Kimodo Dragons or poisonous snakes... That might end badly, though; perhaps I won't try it with something that can spit deadly venom ten feet through the air. But anyways, what brought this on was that I'm at my cousins house and their cat Penny came up randomly and I just patted my lap and she hopped up and started rolling around on my lap and stretching and purring, like, full out. Maybe she's high on catnip, I thought. But then Caramel, the other cat, came up and rubbed all over me and meowedeled around and purred. Maybe the entire US's supply of catnip factories leaks the smell out and I've driven by one to many nip factories and my brain thinks I want to smell like that so it makes me put off the smell of nip and so cats love me. I've also driven by one to many dognip factories and birdnip factories and kimododragonnip factories... No, no, somehow that just sounds a little far fetched...

Book

My book is beautiful. I see it sitting there, all of it's hundreds of pages beckoning; it's as though it knows I'm as weak as a bird drawn to shiny things in the way that I'm drawn to the hundreds of pages.
The pages are not simply pages, though. They are nearly endless portals to a world with suspense, excitement and sheer, undiluted joy.
Simply looking at the cover makes me wonder... What would it be like to live in this world of harmless fun and beauty? Of love and joy and darkness that is always beaten by goodness?
Life would be easy in there, wouldn't it? The darkness never seems quite as dark when you know that there's light somewhere at the end of the series.
Ah, to live in there, in a world that seems so complicated yet so perfect.

Piano

So I started piano about two or three months ago, and it's really fun... I decided not to do the concert thing, though. So anyways, there's this song called 'Old Woman' and the lyrics are as follows: '(loudly, man says)Old woman, old woman, would you like to wash my shirts? (loudly, old woman answers) Speak a little louder, sir, I'm very hard of hearing! (quietly, man says) Old woman, old woman, would you like to marry me? (reeeaally loudly, old woman shouts) Laws a mercy, hallelujah, now I hear you clearly!!!!!' I just love this song... Although I haven't gotten to 'The Purple Cow' yet...

Enough of that, it makes me tired just typing it (not really but sorts, you know?). But for HP 7 Part 2 (Harry Potter Seven Part 2 of the Epic Finale; these are not my words, but the words of the advertisers...)
I'm so psyched I could cry just TALKING about it, you know!?!?! :..O RIGHT?!?!?!?!? So anyways, on July fifteenth I'm going as Ginny Weasley!!!!!!! It's gonna be so cool. REALLY. SUPER. COOL. I've already died my hair orange (from it's original state of brown, ultra curly very thickness) and tested out flat ironing it. Luthien (http://i-amawriter.blogspot.com/) I need your Chi (if that's how you spell it). I took Naturtint's 8C Copper Blonde Permanent Hair Dye (got it at whole foods) and dyed my hair twice with it; the first time with the whole bottle and the second time with half a bottle. Then I flat ironed it with the InStyler Rotating Hot Iron hair straightener/curler and used Morrocanoil's Hydrating Styling Cream. I sound a bit like an advertisement, don't I.?. But my hair seriously looks like hers exactly. I <3 my hair!!!

The Few Fonts Of Blogger

So I was trying out the fonts they have, cause I wanted something interesting; they are all boring, common, unsurprising text fonts that do NOT under ANY circumstances or from ANYONE'S perspective make me want to type in them. Why name them font, ariel, courier, georgia, lucida grande, times, trebuchet, verdana, and webdings (webdings) when they all look so similar that theres no point calling them something different (excluding webdings). Just... why? I mean, they don't even look that different, most of them, anyway. And the text box doesn't even recognize it's own font names...Get some interesting fonts, Blogger!

HYAC was super fun!! The Houston Young Artists Concert consisted of hundreds, as in, like, a LOT of kids auditioning in visual arts, vocals and instruments. I was in a vocal group of six, but after the first round (there are three rounds total) there was some drama and now it's a quartette. So we made it to the second round, which is quite an achievement for first-timers, and the concert is on February 5th, with a dress rehearsal on the 3rd. Wish me luck? Thanks for reading this extreme lameness that posts once in a lifetime, bye!

P.S: I will try to post more from now on. ;)
